Dental sealants act as a barrier, protecting teeth against decay-causing
bacteria. San Diego Dentist Dr. Eshom recommends dental sealants
to all of our patients at risk for tooth decay regardless of age.
Just one more way San Diego Dentist David S. Eshom promotes your
dental health and beauty. Our sealants are applied to the chewing
surfaces of the back teeth where decay occurs most often. In our
dental office, our dentist emphasizes thorough dental care and along
with a dental sealant, San Diego Dentist, Dr Eshom pre-treats the
crevasses of your teeth with our laser to disinfect the grooves
of your teeth, enhancing the bond of the dental sealant.
Sealants are easy for your San Diego dentist, Dr. Eshom, to apply
and it takes only a few minutes to seal each tooth. The teeth that
will be sealed are cleaned with our laser. Then the chewing surfaces
are roughened with an acid solution to help the sealant adhere to
the tooth. The sealant is then 'painted' onto the tooth enamel by
your dentist, Dr. Eshom, where it bonds directly to the tooth and
hardens. San Diego dentist Dr. Eshom will use a special curing light
to help the sealant harden. As long as the sealant remains intact,
the tooth surface will be protected from decay. Sealants hold up
well under the force of normal chewing and usually last several
years before reapplication by Dr. Eshom, your dentist, is needed.
During your regular visits Dr. Eshom will check the condition of
the sealants and reapply them when necessary.
San Diego Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Eshom thoroughly
cleans your teeth with the dental laser to remove any stains or
cavities prior to applying the sealant. This prevents the unwanted
growth of bacteria and decay of your teeth under the surface of
the sealant. |
